Community Manager, Social Media

We are currently looking for a Community Manager to join our Social Media team. The Community Manager will be responsible for engagement strategy across our verticals and will be constantly thinking about how to get people talking, how to organically grow each page's audience, how to create images that are viral/highly shareable and spark conversation, and the how to keep the page healthy. The Community Manager will also be paying attention to what's trending online and coming up with engagement strategies focused on these specific topics in real time.

This is a hands-on, in the trenches role. It’s Facebook-focused and data-driven, meaning you're not only an expert on how to get people engaged (which you absolutely must demonstrate) but that you also:

  • Are a Photoshop aficionado
  • Understand audience growth and development
  • Have creative tactics to get people engaged that don't rely on clickabait or crude/shocking images and text
  • Are not dogmatic, especially in the face of counterintuitive data
  • Treat Facebook pages as a canvas, not a ‘click-delivering system’
  • Have bizarre, out-there, black arts, or otherwise unconventional Facebook engagement strategies (you should know what this means)
  • Demonstrated social media savvy - we’re looking for people that can creatively reach out and engage an audience. Do you have your own web series or blog? We like that. Do you have a ton of Twitter followers? We like that too! 
  • Viral intuition - Do you ever see something on Reddit and think, “Hmm. That looks like something else I’ve seen before.” Great impulse. We do that hourly. Recognizing patterns intuitively and knowing how to apply them is half the battle and spotting something trending and remembering that we have a piece of content that fits with it is huge.
  • We are also only considering those who are currently based in Los Angeles - this is an in-office position, high-touch content editing role. We will not consider candidates that are not currently in the Los Angeles area.

This is definitely not your everyday social media position. Because we’re so data-oriented, our strategies tend to be on the industry’s bleeding edge. We have several powerful tools and systems that make the social process way more efficient, scalable, and iterative.

This position requires some experience in social media. You also need to be extremely well-versed in pop/ internet-culture, and mega bonus points if you have a witty/smart sense of humor.
