PR Manager - LA

We are currently looking for PR Manager to join our team.  The position will focus on both consumer and trade media. We are looking for a candidate to work closely with our head of marketing and PR firm to make a meaningful and measurable brand awareness impact.

This role is a combination of creativity, communication and storytelling for someone who lives and dies by the news cycle and can take data and insights to create meaningful PR campaigns. You will be expected to “get things done” and take on whatever is needed in an environment that is still somewhat scrappy and startup-like. This is a contract-to-perm opportunity.

What is expected of you?

  • Liaise with PR firm on weekly pitch outreach for consumer, ad trade and digital trade media.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, social media press and different kinds of influencers
  • Keep abreast of relevant news and form POV statements and exec quotes
  • Seed PR firm with data and insights for pitches
  • Send weekly news briefing email to radio, broadcast and various vertical outlets
  • Strong writer - ghost write bylines, press releases, media alerts
  • Proactive ideation and pitch creation
  • Manage external digital site presence (LinkedIn, Techcrunch, Wiki, etc.)
  • Own trade social media account(s)
  • Distribute content marketing materials to various outlets (thought leadership, case studies, insights reports, infographics, etc.)
  • Seek and manage award submissions

Who will do great in this role?

  • 2-4 years of current marketing experience at a publisher
  • Minimum 2 years of experience at a digital, media or publishing company
  • Excellent organization, writing and creative skills
  • Think like a journalist, communicate in their language
  • Passionate about online media and pop culture in general
  • Thirst to learn and grow by doing, proactive self-starter
  • Ability to work with demanding personalities and deadlines
